A reputed education and learning solutions company operating on a franchisee network model had franchises operating in multiple cities across multiple locations within each of the cities. Managing business operations in such a distributed enterprise was an enormous challenge. The system had to ensure that the requirements of all the stakeholders were fulfilled. This included the company’s management and operations executives at one end, the franchisee managers in the middle and the students at the other end of the workflow delivery life cycle. Managing the information using Microsoft Office documents such as Word and Excel and compiling data across all centres was a major challenge. Information availability to the right person at the right time to make the right decision was difficult. Using out-of-the-box software to resolve these issues was not viable as there was no software that would specifically address all of these issues without substantial customization which would be a very expensive option.
